Finding that perfect nude shade for the lips is a task in itself, isn’t it?
Pheww! So a decent amount of research and a million swatches at the counters later, I have finally compiled 5 ‘my lips but better’ shades which goes amazingly with my medium Indian skin tone and would probably go with any skin colour too.
So without further words, I give my review on these products.
1. MAC Mehr – Nudey Mauvey Pink, Matte
This beautiful mauvey brown MAC Mehr shade is very flattering on my skin tone – it has hints of blue which makes the skin look brighter. I wear it often because its very comfortable on the lips.
It is has a true matte texture so it can get a bit dry after a while. So before applying it, I have to make sure to put some lip balm on my super dry lips. It stays on for a long time and is not easily transferred on to glasses or anything when eating or drinking. Perfect for the date nights too.

2. MAC Fast Play – Neutral Pink with Amplified Finish
This browny-pink number is extremely creamy and is super comfortable on the lips, thanks to the amplified finish. It is very moisturising and is packed with colour! Wow, what else do I need, really?
The only ‘not so happy’ thing about it is the lasting power – it does not stay on as long like the Mehr, but that is understandable due to the formulation.

3. NARS Velvet Matte Lip pencils – Walkyrie Deep Brown Nude
Hands down, the most comfortable matte formulation ever! No matter how much I rave about this baby, it’s never gonna be enough! It’s a creamy (not to mention, gorgeous) formula which glides on smoothly onto the lips and dries down to a matte in a couple of minutes. The shade is a warm deep brown, perfect for autumn (or any season – who cares?) and is pretty long lasting too. It’s super easy for touch-up on the go.
Only thing of concern is that this pencil needs to be sharpened (bummerrrr!) and the lady at the store, kind of insisted that I buy the NARS sharpener too. How I wish I had, since the pencil didn’t fit the sharpener I have at home.

4. Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick – Lolita Dusty Rose
I don’t think I can ever be a fan of the liquid lipstick only because they are just cruel to my dry lips! The most sought after Lolita is a favourite for a lot of people – I like it too since it is a beautiful nudey brown shade which is good for work and otherwise. It goes on smoothly and pretty opaque on the lips at one go – the applicator is nice, and soon dries down to a complete matte. The wear time is awesome and it just does not budge.
But it does get a bit too dry for me after a while and starts to wear off from the middle of the lips, since I cannot stop licking my chappy lips! Exfoliation (with a sugar scrub or may be with just a soft bristled tooth brush) and applying chap-stick before the lipstick helps a lot.

5. Tarte Lippie Lingerie – Envy Brownish Red matte
Ok! Let me admit, this is my third purchase of the exact same shade and I still can’t get over it!
This is that lip shade which always swims around in my bag and I reach for it every time, no matter where I am going or what lip shade I had been wearing. Everybody has that lipstick right? Who’s with me on this?
It is fantastic shade which goes well with my skin tone and instantly makes me look put-together. The formula is brilliant – it has a satin balmy finish which is not at all drying. The smell is that of peppermint which can be a hit and miss for some. I personally like the minty taste (goes away in sometime). It leaves a stain after it wears off.
